Start with the end use

The same artwork can require a different fabric, finishing route or tolerance depending on whether it will become bedding, a tablecloth, a shirt or a hospitality product.

Define the substrate

Share the fibre content, construction, weight, usable width, color and any required certification. If the fabric is not fixed, describe the required handle and performance.

Prepare artwork correctly

Include the repeat size, final scale, color references, file format and any placement or orientation rules. Panel artwork should include the final product dimensions and seam allowances.

State commercial parameters

Quantity per design and colorway, total order quantity, target price, destination and delivery date should be shared early.

Agree the approval route

Define whether approval will be based on lab sample, strike-off, pilot production or another physical reference.

A complete brief lets the manufacturer evaluate feasibility, risk, timing and cost before avoidable sampling begins.
